Lorraine Bracco will be the next star of "The Sopranos" to moonlight on a
"Law and Order" drama. Bracco, who plays mobster Tony Soprano's
psychiatrist on the H-B-O drama, has been cast as an ambitious attorney on
the upcoming "Law and Order: Trial By Jury" on N-B-C, a series spokeswoman
said today. Michael Imperioli, who plays a Soprano relative, is appearing
in the final four episodes of "Law and Order" this season, while Robert
Iler, Tony Soprano's son, was on "Law and Order: Special Victims Unit"

New leash on life
On
Monday, October 25, Puppies Behind Bars will host Bowhaus 2004,
a benefit auction of dog beds by famous designers and architects. The
money from the sale of the whimsical beds, which range from a velvet
Moroccan-style boudoir to a leather setee, will go toward helping put more
puppies in prisons. "The rehabilitative qualities that the prisoners get
from the dogs is really an amazing thing," said Richard Jordan, a
Manhattan-based decorative painter, whose dog bed, "Cirque du Chien," is
based on a red vaudevillian circus wagon. The oversized design was
inspired by his late schnauzer, Greta - who, he said, "loved to take over
the whole bed." Bed creators also include Ralph Lauren model India Hicks
and interior designers John Saladino and Charlotte Moss.
Sopranos stars Edie Falco and
Lorraine Bracco will host the
auction at the
Museum of Jewish Heritage, 36 Battery Park Place, on Monday from 6 p.m. to
8:30 p.m.

interviews ...
Lorraine's segment was originally aired in March 2004
THE EXONORATED (Court TV, New!) -
Susan Sarandon, Danny Glover, Delroy Lindo, Aidan Quinn, David Brown and
Brian Dennehy are set to star in a small screen adapation of Jessica Blank
and Eric Jensen's play of the same name about the harrowing story of a
group of six people who spent varying amounts of time awaiting capital
punishment before dedicated lawyers got their convictions overturned.
Actor/director Bob Balaban is helming and executive producing the project,
which is currently shooting in New York, from a script by Blank and
Jensen. The cast members were reportedly so committed to the telefilm's
anti-capital punishment message that they each signed on for a fraction of
their usual fees, making the project's budget a modest $500,000. The play
and the TV version both have the majority of the dialogue coming from
court transcripts and interviews with the actual participants as the six "exonorated"
tell their story to the camera with various other actors portraying their
family members, prosecutors, judges, detectives and defense attorneys.
Stephen Tabakin and Karen Wolfe are the co-producers of the project, which
is expected to premiere in the first quarter of 2005, a joint production
of Court TV and @Radical.Media's Jack Lechner and Greg Schultz.
Actress Lorraine Bracco is also said to have been
a major catalyst for Court TV's decision to adapt the play however it's
not clear if she has an on and/or behind the camera role.
Executive producer-director Balaban told the trade mag that actress
Lorraine Bracco (The Graduate, "The Sopranos") prompted the project
by leading him and Court TV chairman-CEO Henry Schleiff "into a room and
refused to let us out until we agreed to make the movie." ...
