Do Something Honors Young Change-Makers at the 2006 BRICK Awards Presented by Kohl's

Hollywood's Hottest Stars, Including Jimmy Fallon, Susan Sarandon, Mary-Louise Parker, Jamie-Lynn Sigler and Michelle Trachtenberg On-Hand to Award Community Service Rock Stars and Corporate Philanthropists

Do Something held its annual BRICK Awards Gala last night, hosted by Jimmy Fallon, at Capitale in New York City. Sponsored by Kohl's, the BRICK Awards honored young community service "rock stars" from across the country, as well as adults who have made incredible contributions to society. Since 1996, the BRICK Awards have funded young change-makers who identify problems in their communities, and then get up off the couch and do something to change our world.

"The BRICK Awards are an opportunity to recognize sincerely deserving people for doing amazing things," says Nancy Lublin, Chief Executive Officer of Do Something. "We're proud to bring kids, celebrities and corporate professionals together on a yearly basis to both take note of their achievements and to help them continue."

The evening began with Academy Award-winner Susan Sarandon presenting the first BRICK Award to Imelda Medrano and Alice DuBois for the "We've Got Your Back" campaign that provided more than 60,000 backpacks filled with new school supplies kids who were displaced by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

Do Something founder Andrew Shue presented the second award to Bob Nardelli, CEO of Home Depot. Golden Globe-winner Mary-Louise Parker took the stage after Andrew to present the "Individual Honoree Award" to Steve Buffone, of Gibson Dunn & Crutcher. New York Giant Michael Strahan and Saturday Night Live's Kenan Thompson presented the BRICK Award to Nickelodeon for its "Let's Just Play" campaign.

Michelle Trachtenberg presented the final awards, and the feature of the night, to the nine young social entrepreneurs for their incredible work in their communities. Damien Fahey presented the coveted "Ultimate BRICK Award" to Francesca Tenconi who gave a teary-eyed speech thanking Do Something and her parents for helping her to assist more children through her Children's Skin Disease Foundation.

At the event, noted celebrity stylist and fashion expert Robert Verdi talked with Jamie Lynn Sigler about upcoming fashion trends and gave advice on personal and wardrobe styling. A silent auction featured a photo shoot by Nigel Barker. The silent auction's most winning item was dinner with the cast of The Sopranos which raised $19,000. Susan Sarandon sat with Mary-Louise Parker and enjoyed a menu of tasty food from Rocco DiSpirito after enjoying a spring fashion preview from Kohl's.

Since 1996, Do Something has awarded over 1 million dollars in community service grants and scholarships to young social entrepreneurs throughout the nation. Each year, thousands of kids apply for a BRICK Award, but only nine winners are selected.
